Description

Classic Six Panel Fiberglass Door with Lasting Durability

The 6 Panel fiberglass entry door features a classic six-panel layout with traditional raised molding. This timeless and versatile design complements traditional, transitional, and contemporary homes where curb appeal and durability are equally important. Built with Premium Build fiberglass construction for lasting durability. This door features a Satin Smooth (white) surface texture optimized for painted finishes.

6 Panel Design with Traditional Panel Detailing

The 6 Panel configuration features a classic arrangement of six panels organized in a balanced pattern with smaller upper panels, tall center panels, and medium lower panels. This traditional layout has been widely used in residential architecture for generations and delivers a timeless appearance that works well across colonial, traditional, and transitional home styles.

Doors without glass provide maximum privacy and enhanced security, making this solid-panel design a dependable choice for front entrances, side doors, garages, and utility applications where visibility control and durability are priorities. The upper four panels can also be cut out to accept a half lite glass insert, adding natural light while preserving the two lower panels and traditional proportions.

Each panel features detailed edge profiles designed to create depth and shadow lines similar to those found in traditional wood door construction. The varied panel proportions add architectural character and visual depth to the door surface.

Key Measurements

Key Measurements & Sizing Information

This door is sold as a nominal 36" x 84" size, which is also commonly written as 3/0 x 7/0. The actual slab size is 35-3/4" wide x 83" tall, with a standard exterior door thickness of 1-3/4".

If purchasing with jambs to assemble a single prehung unit: this slab size typically pairs with a 36" head jamb. For inswing thresholds and saddle-style outswing thresholds, the matching leg jambs are 85-3/4", creating an assembled unit size of approximately 37-1/2" x 85-3/4" when using standard 3/4" jamb thickness. For bumper-style outswing thresholds, the leg jambs are 84-3/4", creating an assembled unit size of approximately 37-1/2" x 84-3/4".

If purchasing slab only to replace an existing door slab and keep your current frame: an 83" slab is the most common exterior slab height for 7/0 doors and is often the preferred choice even when the existing door measures 83-1/8" or 83-1/4" tall. In many replacement situations, a small height difference at the bottom can be addressed using an adjustable U-style door sweep, helping maintain proper sealing and smooth door operation within the existing frame. If your existing door measures a full 36" wide, is taller than 83-1/4", or measures exactly 36" x 84" (common with older wood doors), we also offer a line of oversize trimmable doors available in select styles.

Door Prep

Door Prep Options

Door prep refers to how the door slab is machined for hinges and lock hardware. We offer three options:

  • Without prep (blank): no machining, ready for field preparation
  • Standard prep: machined to common residential hinge and lock placements, and matched to the framing and jamb sets we offer for complete door systems
  • Custom prep: hinge and lock locations machined to exactly match your existing door

If your existing door is prepped to specifications other than our standard layout, we recommend selecting custom prep so the new slab matches your existing door. See the diagram in the image gallery for a visual reference of standard hinge and lock placement.

Standard Hinge Prep

Standard hinge prep includes three hinge mortises on the hinge edge of the door, located as measured from the top of the door:

  • Top hinge: 6-1/2" from top
  • Middle hinge: 39-1/2" from top
  • Bottom hinge: 72-1/2" from top

For Slab Only orders, standard hinge prep is reversible. The mortises are machined completely through the edge of the door so hinges can be mounted from either direction, allowing left-hand or right-hand swing installation without additional routing. This type of reversible hinge prep is compatible with 4" hinges in 5/8" radius (quarter-round), 1/4" radius (dime-round), or square corner profiles. Complete Door System orders come with standard hinge prep locations but will be mortised as hinge pockets to match selected swing and hinge shape.

Standard Lock Prep

Standard tubular lock prep is machined for a 2-3/8" backset lockset and includes two 2-1/8" bore holes spaced 5-1/2" apart. Each bore is centered 2-3/8" from the edge of the door:

  • Deadbolt bore (upper): centered 44-3/8" from top of door
  • Latch bore (lower): centered 49-7/8" from top of door
Construction & Materials

Premium Build Construction: Stronger Than Standard Doors

Our fiberglass entry doors are built using a Premium Build configuration featuring full-length 4" LVL (laminated veneer lumber) side stiles on both sides of the door. These engineered stiles run the full height of the slab, delivering a stronger, heavier, more rigid door than the simplified constructions used in most entry-level fiberglass doors sold at big box stores.

The fiberglass skins resist warping, rotting, denting, and rusting, while a high-density polyurethane foam core provides insulation and contributes to the door's structural integrity. Composite top and bottom rails help resist moisture intrusion and long-term deterioration. Homeowners and contractors will notice the difference in weight and rigidity the moment they handle the door, a clear indicator of the build quality engineered into every slab.

Reversible Lock Prep: No Wrong Side

Because the 4" LVL stiles run full-length on both sides of the door, hardware can be bored into either stile with equal structural support. This eliminates one of the most common installation errors, boring hardware on the wrong side, and gives buyers full flexibility on door handing. DIY homeowners get peace of mind during installation, and contractors avoid costly rework on the jobsite.

Engineered for Everyday Performance

Together, the full-length LVL stiles, insulated foam core, and moisture-resistant composite rails create a door built to perform reliably in demanding exterior environments. The result is a door that installs with confidence and delivers dependable performance year after year.

Finishing

Surface Texture and Recommended Finish for Smooth Fiberglass Doors

This door features a Satin Smooth (white) surface with a fine linear texture and subtle vertical lines, similar to a woven linen or brushed fabric. This micro-texture provides built-in surface tooth that helps primer and paint adhere without the need for heavy sanding, reduces the visibility of brush marks and roller lines, and helps prevent runs and drips on vertical surfaces.

Before finishing, clean all door surfaces to remove dust, oils, and handling residue, then allow the surface to fully dry. For best results, we recommend using a high-quality bonding primer such as Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond Primer, followed by a premium exterior-grade acrylic latex paint.

All six sides of the door must be finished, including the front, back, top, bottom, and both edges, to properly protect the door and maintain warranty coverage. When selecting paint colors, lighter to medium shades are typically recommended for doors exposed to direct sunlight, as very dark colors can increase surface temperatures and reduce long-term finish performance.

Fiberglass doors are shipped unfinished or factory-primed depending on selected options. Finishing should be completed promptly after delivery and before prolonged exposure to weather.

Installation

Installation Readiness for Fiberglass Door Slabs

Fiberglass door slabs are designed for installation into existing door frames or for assembly into new prehung units. Before installation, verify that the slab dimensions (width, height, and thickness) match the existing slab for replacements, or the jamb set for new assemblies.

When replacing an existing slab, the original door can often be used as a template. Align the existing door on top of the new slab to transfer hinge locations and hardware positions for accurate placement.

Minor trimming of fiberglass door slabs may be possible depending on the door construction, but allowable trimming limits should always be verified before cutting. Excessive trimming may affect performance or warranty coverage.

Fiberglass door slabs are heavy and should be handled by two or more people during installation. Always support the door evenly to prevent damage to corners or edges.

Complete all recommended finishing steps promptly after installation to protect the door surface and maintain long-term performance.

For complete step-by-step installation instructions, refer to the full installation guide available in the Resources section below.

Customer photo review of Smooth Fiberglass Entry Door Slab (6 Panel)

I went to Home Depot, Menards, and Lowe’s and scoured their websites. Finding a replacement patio door seemed nearly impossible, and the ones I was able to find had shipping times of 6-weeks or more and would need to be trimmed onsite. It seemed too good to be true when I found the exact dimensions online from Please Doors. A simple Google search brought me there, and I’m beyond impressed. The door is EXACTLY the same size, it got here within 3-4 days and delivery was a breeze. I wasn’t even home, FedEx literally called; I opened my garage remotely, and they left it in there. I’m going to save a ton of money on install. I Couldn’t be happier with the service, and I never leave reviews. Thanks so much.

Customer photo review of 36" x 80" OUTSWING Prehung Smooth Fiberglass Entry Door System (6 Panel)

The door sweep is 1/2” above making contact with the threshold. For a $1,200 door I would expect a much better quality sweep. The fact that it doesn’t seal at threshold would be unexceptable for even an over the counter door for 1/3 the price.

36" x 80" OUTSWING Prehung Smooth Fiberglass Entry Door System (6 Panel)

Store owner replied: Hello Brian, Thank you for your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. The gap between the door sweep and the threshold may require adjusting the threshold to ensure proper contact. Additionally, we’d be happy to send you a universal wrap-around sweep to help seal the gap effectively. Please let us know if you’d like us to proceed with this, or if there’s anything else we can assist you with. Thank you for bringing this to our attention—we appreciate the opportunity to make it right. Best, Charlie

What a nice company to do business with! Call with a question and the person who picks up the call has the answers and the authority to make changes. ( I over ordered hinges). My contractor annd I are impressed with the stability and quality of the door, it feels heavy but moves so smooth. The paint finish made it ready to go. Handy, as I was in a bit of a rush for a party. My little laundry room is now so charming because of my Pease door! Nancy White

Having a steel door frame in a masonry wall with a damaged Pease door over 20 years old, there were no other choices put to use the same brand. Finding a Pease door that hadn’t been pre drilled for hinges and lock set was another matter since current specs were slightly different. The sales staff , after some false starts, came through with a smooth fiberglass door and met the opening of Du lit Bistro in Fortville, IN.

1/3/24.......OVERDUE on this review. I apologize! My husband and I are ecstatic over our beautiful door with the gorgeous sidelights. I did my research and looked at other companies but decided to go with PEASE doors mainly because of your wonderful representative, Ariel. Ariel answered all the questions I had, was always available to take my call and/or answer my numerous texts. Thank you, Ariel! We love our new door. The double doors in our already new constructed home caused the foyer area to be very dark, which I hated. I found PEASE doors and fell in love with the built in private blind and the sidelights as you see here in the pictures. Not only are we enjoying all the natural light that comes into our foyer area, you can also see that our one dog Ricky loves looking out the window built into the front door. Lucy his sidekick is also enjoying it as well. We are overjoyed with our new door and sidelights. Thanks again! Darcy Butkus

Customer photo review of 36" x 80" Smooth Fiberglass Entry Door Slab (6 Panel)

Excellent fit and build quality! This is the 2nd slab I have purchased for my neighbors to replace worn out steel doors. Both have commented on how much better the fiberglass door works and how their entry is no longer cold in the winter due to poor sealing of the old doors. I have been very pleased with the service and response from the Pease team as well

Replaced an existing Pease door so it fit like a glove. 4 stars only because it’s another “made in china” product unfortunately. Otherwise a good quality door, solid wood encapsulated by fiberglass skin. On sale price of 499 made it no brainer.

Customer photo review of 36" Smooth Fiberglass Entry Door Slab (6 Panel)

The delivery was a bit delayed by FedX most probably due to Hurricane Ida. The door is exactly as described and am so pleased with my purchase and service.

36" Smooth Fiberglass Entry Door Slab (6 Panel)

The door came in packaged securely to an oversized pallet with no damage. I did have to bevel the hinge side of door to prevent potential binding on door frame but no big issue. I was very satisfied with the door. Very good quality.

Smooth Fiberglass Entry Door Slab (6 Panel)

The door will be perfect once it’s installed. We have the opening cut, but the door is still hanging out with half a dozen other miscellaneous doors waiting to be hung. The door was well-packed for immediate shipping, and is exactly what I ordered. The company was very accommodating and assured me I would get the door I ordered. I will send some photos later this summer when everything has been completed.

Old house. Once original framing and rotten bottom plate issues were addressed, and framing was squared, the door installation went flawlessly. Door swing, consistent reveals all around, and door hardware installed, the weather seals compression look right. Thank you.

Great product! Would highly recommend, it’s exactly what we wanted and needed. A solid exterior door with a window we could open. We paid extra to have it put together and shipped all in 1 piece. Shipping was safe and good.

Delivery went fine, door came with scuffed up paint. Which is did not wipe off, and will need to be painted. Nice door though otherwise...

Smooth Fiberglass Entry Door Slab (6 Panel)

Store owner replied: Scott, thank you for your feedback, and we're glad to hear you like the door overall! Our fiberglass doors come factory-primed, and will need to be painted as part of the installation process to ensure long-term durability and maintain warranty coverage. That said, we understand how frustrating it can be to receive something that looks scuffed right out of the box. If you'd like, feel free to send us a photo at info@peasedoors.com so we can take a look and make sure everything is in good shape before you paint. We're here to help however we can! — The Pease Doors Team

The doors are awesome! However my original idea was to use them as interior bypass barn doors but @ 100 lbs each they exceeded my hardware. I'll just find a different application for them.

There were no specification on how to install your doors. In Florida, we have strict specification per the Florida Building Code (6th Edition), but my main concern was my customer and what gurantee he will have base on the Florida Building Code per installing your door. I spoke to one of your representative as well as one of your supervisors, but neither were able to put in writing a gurantee for my customer. My suggestion is that you put the requirements per the FL Building Code in writing, as your specifications, if this is what you base your guranteed on. I simply have nothing from your company to give to my customer stating what you will or will not gurantee.

Smooth Fiberglass Entry Door Slab (6 Panel)

My fiberglass front door was a well constructed quality product that was of a much higher quality than what I could have bought at one of the big box stores. It fit perfectly with my entrance front door frame and the hinge cut outs were exactly in the right place and required no adjustment to the door frame. The contractor who installed the door was Luciano Cruz of Top Quality Contracting - I obtained his contact information from your website as he is one of your preferred contractors listed for my area. This is the second Pease product that Luciano has installed for me, the first being front door side lights a few years ago. So not only do you offer a quality products, but I also connected with a professional contractor that is a perfectionist from your website!
