Guaranteed Fit

Send us photos. We'll confirm the fit.

A Pease door expert checks your measurements and photos and confirms the exact product and size, usually within one business day. If we confirm it and it doesn't fit, we remake it at no charge, including shipping, or refund your order.

The photos we need

Pick your project to see what to photograph

Each project needs a few specific photos. Measuring glass instead? Start with how to measure door glass.

Whole door system

Replacing the door and its frame. We size door systems from the rough opening, so take off the inside trim first: score the paint with a utility knife and it comes off in one piece.

  1. The whole opening, outside

Step back so the frame, trim and threshold are all in the shot.

  2. The whole opening, inside

Shows the hinge side and which way the door swings.

  3. Opening width, top and bottom

With the trim off, tape stud to stud across the top, and again across the bottom.

  4. Opening height, left and right

Subfloor to the header, on the left side and the right.

  5. Wall thickness

Tape across the wall's thickness at the opening.

Trim can't come off yet? Send the whole-door photos and your door's size, and we'll review the estimate for free (only rough opening measurements are guaranteed).

Door slab only

Keeping your frame and hanging a new door in it. We prep the new slab's hinges and lock to match.

  1. Your old door

The tape across the door edge to edge, and top to bottom.

  2. The frame

The tape across the frame between the jambs, at the top and at the bottom.

  3. Hinge edge

The tape running from the top of the door past each hinge.

  4. A coin on a hinge corner

Hold a dime or a quarter against a hinge corner, so we can match the corner shape.

  5. Lock position

The tape from the door edge to the center of the lock hole.

  6. Handleset holes (if you have one)

The screw holes of a grip below the deadbolt.

Glass and frame kit

Replacing the glass and the plastic frame around it.

  1. The whole door

Lets us spot glass a kit can't replace, like flush-glazed glass or a patio slider.

  2. Frame width

Tape across the plastic frame, outside edge to outside edge.

  3. Frame height

Top outside edge of the frame to the bottom outside edge.

  4. Door thickness

Kits fit doors 1-3/4" thick, within 1/8".

Kits are listed by the outside size of the frame. Measuring the glass or the hole is the most common mistake.

Frame kit only

Keeping your glass and replacing the plastic frame around it.

  1. The whole door

So we can see the shape and style of the frame.

  2. Frame width

Tape across the plastic frame, outside edge to outside edge.

  3. Frame height

Top outside edge of the frame to the bottom outside edge.

  4. Glass thickness

Loosen a few frame screws and measure the glass edge: both panes and the gap between them.

For an oval, take the frame off and measure the glass itself.

Add glass to a door

Cutting a new opening for glass in a solid door.

  1. The whole door, outside

Shows the panels we would be cutting into.

  2. The area to cut, marked

Tape or trace the opening on the door, and photograph it with a tape measure showing the size.

  3. The inside face

The cut goes through both faces, so we check the inside too.

  4. Door thickness

Kits fit doors 1-3/4" thick, within 1/8".

The opening is 1" smaller than the kit's frame: a 24" × 38" kit needs a 23" × 37" opening.

Threshold and sweep

Replacing the threshold, or the sweep on the bottom of the door.

  1. The bottom of the door, outside

The threshold, the bottom of the door and the frame on both sides.

  2. Threshold length

Tape along the threshold, between the frame on each side.

  3. Threshold depth

Front edge of the threshold to the back edge.

  4. Threshold end

Photograph the end of the threshold from the side, to show its shape and height.

  5. Sweep end

The end of the door sweep, to show the spacing and height of its fins.

For a sweep alone, the last photo is often all we need.

  • Make the numbers readable. Hold the tape flat against the door and get close enough to read it.
  • Shoot in good light. Daylight or the porch light on; no flash glare on glass.
  • Show the whole thing. One step-back photo of the full door helps us more than you'd think.

The guarantee

What's covered

What does Guaranteed Fit cover?

If a Pease door expert confirms the fit and the product doesn't fit, we'll remake it in the correct size at no charge, including shipping both ways. If a remake won't solve it, we'll refund your order instead.

What qualifies?

Products we confirmed from your measurements and photos before you ordered, ordered exactly as we confirmed within 30 days. For door systems (a door with its frame), the rough opening has to be measured directly, with the inside trim removed. Our measuring tool walks you through it.

Why do door systems need the rough opening?

An estimate from your old frame can't see the jamb thickness, the shim space or the header behind the trim, and any of them can be off by 1/2" or more. Taking off the inside trim takes about 10 minutes: score the paint with a utility knife and it comes off in one piece. We're still glad to review estimates for free, but only rough opening measurements are guaranteed.

What photos do you need?

It depends on the project. The photo guide above shows each photo for a whole door system, a door slab, a glass and frame kit, a frame kit, new glass cut into a door, and a threshold or sweep. Always include one photo of the whole door.

What isn't covered?

Products installed, trimmed or finished before you tell us there's a problem; changes to the opening after your photos; installation labor; and claims made more than 30 days after delivery. Pease chooses between a remake and a refund. On a refund we arrange the product's return, or you may keep it.

How do I make a claim?

Call, text or email us within 30 days of delivery, before you install, trim or finish it, with your order number and photos of the problem: 513-871-8907 or info@peasedoors.com.
