Exterior Clear Coat (1 Quart)

Exterior clear coat for stained fiberglass and wood doors. Old Masters® Ascend Exterior is a water-based clear finish with UV absorbers that protects your stain from sun and weather. It looks milky in the can and dries clear.

Choosing a finish

All four finishes give the same protection. The only difference is how much light the surface reflects.

• Matte: The lowest sheen, with almost no shine. Gives a natural, hand-rubbed look and does the best job hiding small brush marks and surface imperfections.
• Satin: A soft, low glow. A common choice for stained entry doors because it looks rich without looking shiny, and it is easy to wipe clean.
• Semi-Gloss: A noticeable shine that brightens the stain color and wipes clean easily. Brush marks and dust are a bit more visible than with satin.
• Gloss: The highest shine for a polished, furniture-like look. It reflects the most light, so it also shows brush marks, dust and surface flaws the most.

Not sure? Satin is the safe pick for most front doors. If you are matching an existing finish, hold a flashlight at a low angle to the surface and compare how much it reflects.

• Dry to touch in 30 minutes and ready to recoat in 1 to 2 hours
• Three coats recommended, with extra coats for doors in direct sun
• Over gel stain or other oil-based stain, let the stain dry at least 48 hours before topcoating
