How we estimate

Most in-stock items that need no shop work leave our warehouse the same or next business day. Ordering by 12 pm Eastern, Monday to Friday, gives yours the best chance of shipping the same day.

Shop work starts once everything is in stock: trimming, cutting or prep takes 1 business day, finishing (priming, painting or staining) 1 to 3, and assembly, such as a prehung door system, 2 to 5. Out-of-stock items without a restock date usually ship in about 2 weeks, plus any shop work.

Ground parcels take 2 to 4 business days. Doors, sidelites and other large items go by freight: Priority Freight takes 2 to 5 business days and economy freight 7 to 15; you choose at checkout. Weekends and carrier holidays aren't counted. These are estimates, not guarantees.

Custom Prehung Access Door, made to order

Our insulated fiberglass access door, built to the size you need. Use it for crawl spaces, attics, utility rooms, water heater and HVAC closets, and storage: anywhere a standard door won't fit and a thin panel won't keep the heat out.

Choose the unit size to the nearest 1/4", then the frame, jamb depth, hinges and lock prep. The drawing and price update as you go, and you can print a spec sheet of your door.

Any Size, to the 1/4"

Built to your opening: units from 19-1/2" to 37-1/2" wide and 29-1/2" to 80-3/4" tall, in 1/4" steps. The door slab is 1-3/4" narrower and shorter than the unit.

Energy Efficient

Exterior-grade smooth fiberglass skins over a polyurethane foam core, hung in composite jambs that won't rot. 4-sided frames seal on all four sides with white foam weatherstrip.

Your Frame, Your Hinges

A 4-sided frame mounts any way, in or out, left or right. Or choose an outswing bumper threshold in aluminum mill or bronze. Two hinges in satin nickel, stainless steel or flat black.

Lock Prep Your Way

No bore, a single 2-1/8" bore, or a double bore 5-1/2" apart for a handle and deadbolt, centered top to bottom, at a 2-3/8", 2" or 2-3/4" backset.

Questions buyers ask

Will a 35-3/4" x 79" slab fit my 36" x 80" door frame?

Yes. 36" x 80" is what the door is called; the slab itself measures 35-3/4" x 79", which leaves the gaps a door needs to swing and seal. Measure your old slab to be sure, or send us your measurements and we confirm the fit before we build.

Slab only or complete door system: which do I need?

A slab is just the door, for a frame that is square and in good shape. A complete door system is the door hung in a new frame with the threshold, hinges and weatherstrip: choose it if the frame is rotted or out of square, or if you are changing the opening. The Door System Calculator turns a rough opening into the right size.

Which way does my door open?

Stand inside the home, facing the door. If it swings toward you it is an inswing door, and the knob side names the hand: knob on your left is left hand inswing. For an outswing door, use the hinge side instead.

Can I add my own glass later?

Choose a cut-out option and we cut the opening in our shop for the matching glass kit. Glass kits are listed by the outside size of their plastic frame, which is 1" larger than the cut-out (a 23" x 37" cut takes a 24" x 38" kit), and a shaped cut (round top, arch or oval) needs a kit of the same shape.

When will it ship?

In-stock items that need no shop work ship the same or next business day. Shop work starts once everything is in stock: 1 business day for prep, 1 to 3 for finishing, and 2 to 5 to assemble a complete door system. Doors go by freight: Priority Freight takes 2 to 5 business days, economy freight 7 to 15; you choose at checkout. The estimate under the price updates for the size and options you pick.
