How we estimate

Most in-stock items that need no shop work leave our warehouse the same or next business day. Ordering by 12 pm Eastern, Monday to Friday, gives yours the best chance of shipping the same day.

Shop work starts once everything is in stock: trimming, cutting or prep takes 1 business day, finishing (priming, painting or staining) 1 to 3, and assembly, such as a prehung door system, 2 to 5. Out-of-stock items without a restock date usually ship in about 2 weeks, plus any shop work.

Ground parcels take 2 to 4 business days. Doors, sidelites and other large items go by freight: Priority Freight takes 2 to 5 business days and economy freight 7 to 15; you choose at checkout. Weekends and carrier holidays aren't counted. These are estimates, not guarantees.

Beautiful, hand-crafted Brazilian Mahogany entry door with 3/4 Glass 6 Lite style. We recommend this door for front entryways where a strong impression matters.

Made of solid mahogany, this door is immensely satisfying to open/close and brings an added level of security and elegance to any home.

Authentic stile and rail construction. Traditional dowel construction creates tight solid joints. Doors and components are built solid, with doors and components made of the same stain-grade wood.

This slab does not include jambs and ships unfinished (see picture with closeup of bevel glass for color of unfinished door).

Premium quality at a third of the traditional cost:

  • We keep the entire wood sourcing, kiln-drying and manufacturing process in South America, which allows us to keep the cost low and hand craft the doors
  • We offer these doors direct, which saves you the traditional markups applied by distributors and lumberyards/door companies

Mahogany is the best ultra premium wood for exterior doors:

  • Extremely dense and sturdy, for maximum sound insulation and ability to handle normal wear & tear with ease and last for decades
  • Easily stained (takes stains very well) to bring out beautiful natural grain of the wood
  • Extremely stable wood holds it size and shape (prevents warping which can cause doors to get "stuck")

Glass specifications:

  • True divided lite (individual panes of glass separated by the wood mullions or grids)
  • Glass panes feature bevels around the edge add to the premium look and feel of this door and scatter sunlight for a mesmerizing effect
  • Double pane insulated glass is energy efficient and thermally sealed to be air and watertight
  • Glass has been tempered for safety

Key measurements:

  • Slab Height: 79" (80" available on request)
  • Slab Width: 35.75" (36.00" available on request)
  • Slab Thickness: 1.75" (1 3/4") - standard exterior door thickness

Additional specifications:

  • Sand, stain, and topcoat to finish (finishing instructions below)
  • Flat edge (not "prepped" or mortised for hinges) - trace your existing hinges onto your new slab
  • Kiln dried shrink resistant panels to ensure maximum stability (limits wood expansion/contraction/warping)
  • Stile & rail construction with true jointed panels for a premium look and feel

Finishing & Installation:

1. Before finishing, remove existing door and trace hinges and lock bore placement onto new door (by laying existing door on top of new door and tracing with a pencil)

2. Bore out lock holes and mortise hinges on new door. Screw hinges onto new door slab.

3. Sand door with 150-180 grit sandpaper (remember to sand back and forth in the direction of the grain)

4. Clean the door (get all of the dust debris off of the surface of the door)

5. Finish the door: (we strongly recommend staining to showcase the beautiful natural grain of this premium mahogany)

  • To stain: Apply a high-quality wood stain and finish with a clear polyurethane topcoat (solvent-borne or waterborne polyurethane)
  • To paint: 1. Seal door with oil-based primer. 2. Apply 2 coats of our trim urethane paint or an interior oil-based or acrylic latex paint

6. Hang the door in the existing jambs, wedging shims or underneath the bottom edge of the door while you screw the hinges into the jambs, working from top to bottom

7. Install door lock/hardware

8. Test door swing and alignment (door should not swing open or closed on its own, should latch and open smoothly, should have even spacing all around the door -- you should be able to slide a quarter all the way around the sides and top of the door)

9. Shim door hinges/adjust as needed

Questions buyers ask

Will a 35-3/4" x 79" slab fit my 36" x 80" door frame?

Yes. 36" x 80" is what the door is called; the slab itself measures 35-3/4" x 79", which leaves the gaps a door needs to swing and seal. Measure your old slab to be sure, or send us your measurements and we confirm the fit before we build.

Slab only or complete door system: which do I need?

A slab is just the door, for a frame that is square and in good shape. A complete door system is the door hung in a new frame with the threshold, hinges and weatherstrip: choose it if the frame is rotted or out of square, or if you are changing the opening. The Door System Calculator turns a rough opening into the right size.

Which way does my door open?

Stand inside the home, facing the door. If it swings toward you it is an inswing door, and the knob side names the hand: knob on your left is left hand inswing. For an outswing door, use the hinge side instead.

Can I add my own glass later?

Choose a cut-out option and we cut the opening in our shop for the matching glass kit. Glass kits are listed by the outside size of their plastic frame, which is 1" larger than the cut-out (a 23" x 37" cut takes a 24" x 38" kit), and a shaped cut (round top, arch or oval) needs a kit of the same shape.

When will it ship?

In-stock items that need no shop work ship the same or next business day. Shop work starts once everything is in stock: 1 business day for prep, 1 to 3 for finishing, and 2 to 5 to assemble a complete door system. Doors go by freight: Priority Freight takes 2 to 5 business days, economy freight 7 to 15; you choose at checkout. The estimate under the price updates for the size and options you pick.
