How we estimate

Most in-stock items that need no shop work leave our warehouse the same or next business day. Ordering by 12 pm Eastern, Monday to Friday, gives yours the best chance of shipping the same day.

Shop work starts once everything is in stock: trimming, cutting or prep takes 1 business day, finishing (priming, painting or staining) 1 to 3, and assembly, such as a prehung door system, 2 to 5. Out-of-stock items without a restock date usually ship in about 2 weeks, plus any shop work.

Ground parcels take 2 to 4 business days. Doors, sidelites and other large items go by freight: Priority Freight takes 2 to 5 business days and economy freight 7 to 15; you choose at checkout. Weekends and carrier holidays aren't counted. These are estimates, not guarantees.

Stain grade head jamb for interior doors. Solid poplar in double rabbeted construction means the stop is built into the jamb (rather than applied separately), providing unparalleled durability, stability, and ease of installation.

Width:

Single doors - add 3/16" (.1875") to door slab actual width: available in sizes to fit single doors 12" to 42" in width

To ensure smooth operation, we recommend 1/16" space on the hinge side and 1/8" (2/16") space on the strike or lock side for a total of 3/16 or .1875" larger than actual width of door slab
Since interior doors often measure the full nominal width, for example a 3/0 or 36" door will measure a full 36.0", we send our head jambs with sufficient length to work for these full-width doors

Double doors - add 5/16" (.3125") to combined width of door slabs: available in sizes to fit double doors 12" to 36" in width

To ensure smooth operation, we recommend 1/16" space on each hinge side and 3/16" space where the double doors meet for a total of 5/16 or .3125" larger than the combined actual width of the door slabs
Since interior doors often measure the full nominal width, for example a 3/0 or 36" door will measure a full 36.0", we send our head jambs with sufficient length to work for these full-width doors

If you are unsure what width jamb you need, please purchase one with some extra width and trim on job site (we recommend a box saw or miter saw to ensure a straight cut)

High Grade Solid Poplar

Stain grade poplar with rich grain, durability, and longevity. Resists rot, twisting, warping, cracking while lasting for years of continued operation. Combine this with a wood that is easy to work with a chisel or trim with a saw and you have the ideal wood for framing the doors in your home.

Painting / Staining

This wood takes paint (oil-based or latex) extremely well.

While paint looks good on poplar, you can make it look like more expensive, fine-grained woods by staining. We recommend gel stains for ease of application and beautiful results.

Easy Installation

Quickly assembly a new premium door frame by nailing leg jambs together with our poplar interior door head jambs. We recommend 1.5" brad nails.

Poplar is a great wood to work with and can be easily shaped or trimmed to retrofit in an existing frame or used in new construction to quickly correct any slight alignment issues.
