Attics and utility rooms are typically outside of the central air-conditioned space of a home. These spaces are typically divided from the climate-controlled space by insulated walls but are accessed by smaller-than-normal doors, called "access," "utility," or "crawlspace" doors or panels.
Most access doors on the market are either un-insulated and made of medium density fiberboard or thin particle board or wood skins with polystyrene insulation. None of them meet the mark. Using exterior grade door materials and insulation, we offer prehung doors that are perfect for accessing HVAC units, water heaters, attic spaces, and other utility
spaces without compromising thermal efficiency.
Specifications:
- Comes standard with two satin nickel hinges
- 1 3/4" thick door with smooth fiberglass skin
- 2" solid wood stiles frame the inside of the panel, which is filled with high-grade polyurethane insulation
- Jambs are constructed from poplar wood
- Door and jambs are primed and ready for paint
- Doors are center bored 2-1/8" at 2-3/8" backset for standard lock. (Non-Handed/Reversible) -- lock not included
Measurements:
- Select from a range of unit sizes 19.5" to 37.5" wide and 37" to 61" tall
- Cut-out (rough opening) in wall should be ~1/4 - 1/2" larger than unit size in width and height to allow for proper shimming
- Door panel (slab) measures 1.75" narrower and shorter than unit size
- Select 4 9/16" or 6 9/16" deep jambs to fit you wall thickness
- 4 9/16" is typical for 2x4 construction, while 6 9/16" is typical for 2x6 construction
