Description
The Hurricane Impact Rated Guard Dog Pet Door gives your dog easy access to the yard without giving up the security of a solid entry door. A three-panel insulated Lexan flap lets pets come and go, and a hinged, locking security panel closes everything off when you want the door sealed up tight. It installs into a rectangular cutout the same way a doorlite goes in, so it works with your existing entry door instead of requiring a separate dog door cut into the wall.

Built from extruded and cellular PVC with stainless steel hinges and a hardened steel lock throw, the Guard Dog is the first pet door engineered to meet residential building codes when integrated into a pre-hung door system. Hurricane product approval, AAMA forced entry testing to 270 lbs, and ASTM E330/E331 compliance mean it holds up to the same pressures your front door does. Made in the USA by Pro-Kay Building Products in Orrum, NC.

Use for large dogs up to 100lbs.
Medium size available in the standard (non-impact) Guard Dog Pet Door.
Key Features

Locking security panel. A single hand-turn lock with a hardened steel throw closes an insulated fiberglass panel against a weather-gasketed stop. The panel rides on two stainless steel lift-off hinges, so you can remove it entirely when the door is unlocked, or magnet it open against a neodymium catch for full-time pet access.

Air Seal pet flap. Three jointed Lexan polycarbonate panels suspended on a reinforced metal rod. Each panel is insulated and edged with sweeps and magnetic weather stripping that pull the flap closed and seal it against drafts.

Code compliant. Florida Product Approval FL40116-R1 covers structural code compliance, wind-borne debris, and water penetration. All models pass ASTM E330 and E331. The First Edition Impact model meets Wind Zone D requirements under ASTM E1886 and E1996.

Built to last. Extruded PVC provides the structural backbone, cellular PVC adds insulation, and exterior trim is bonded with Cosmo SL-660 PVC adhesive. Insulated fiberglass security panels are made from repurposed high-quality door cutouts. Screw hole covers and a flush PVC face conceal the hardware for a clean residential look.

Clean finish. Flush profile with concealed metal security plate. Comes fully assembled with hardware included.

Installation

The Guard Dog installs the same way a doorlite insert does. Cut a rectangular opening in the slab to the dimensions above, drop the exterior frame in from the outside, and screw the interior frame on from the inside. No glazing required. Pre-adhered flush weather stripping on the exterior trim eliminates the need for caulking. Interior trim is countersunk and prepped for the included screws and screw hole covers.

The unit ships fully assembled with all hardware. Designed for door fabricators and pre-hangers, but the same install process works for retrofitting an existing slab.

Finishing note: PVC manufacturers void warranty on any PVC component painted with a finish below 55 Light Reflectance Value. Use PVC-grade paint at or above 55 LRV.
