Description

Replacement Spring Hinge Set

Set of two premium self-closing spring hinges for exterior doors. We recommend 2 spring hinges per door to ensure smooth closing action. Includes screws for installation. Great for hanging new doors or refreshing the hardware on existing doors. Select from available finishes.

Additional specifications:

  • Hinges measure 4" by 4" with 5/8" radial outside corners
    • This is the most popular size and shape for residential exterior doors
    • Great for hanging new doors or replacing hinges on existing doors. Hole pattern matches Masonite standard hole pattern. Can also be adapted to fit many other door brands by patching screw holes. Just make sure that your existing hinge matches the overall size and shape
  • .106" (2.7mm) gauge (thickness)
  • Plain bearing, butt style hinge with removable pin
  • Stainless steel plated for strength and to resist corrosion
  • Includes two sets of matching screws - sharp point for wood jambs and machine screws for steel jambs (16 EACH #10 x ¾" SCREWS AND 16 EACH #10 x ½" MACHINE SCREWS)
  • For use with standard exterior doors -- typically 1.625 (1 5/8") or 1.75" (1 3/4") thick

Straightforward installation does not require removing door from frame.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Attach spring hinge to both door and jamb so that hinge leaf with UL logo is attached to the jamb (the hex adjustment may have to face down).
  2. Place door in closed position
  3. If hex adjustment is facing up, turn hex wrench clockwise to desired tension. If hex adjustment is facing down, tum hex wrench counterclockwise to desired tension (SEE CAUTION STATEMENT)
  4. Insert tension pin into tension hole when holes in the center stud and hinge knuckle line up. Slowly release tension on hex wrench.
  5. Remove hex wrench and test closing action of door
  6. Repeat steps 1 through 5, if necessary, to increase or decrease tension of the spring hinge

CAUTION:

  • Do not exceed three (3) holes of tension for doors opening 180 degrees and do not exceed four (4) holes of tension for doors opening 90 degrees.
  • Adjust spring hinge to minimum tension required to close the door. Over tensioning will reduce spring life.
